Event Detail and Updates

The race will be completed in teams of two, with both team members traveling together for substantially all of the race.

The race will feature a series of check points, or CPs, each of which will have an assigned point value; easy to reach CPs will earn participants a fewer number of points than a challenging CP. The winners will be the team that acquires the most points in the allotted race time.

While a few check points will require participants to use a specified method of travel, for most check points, the participants will be able to choose to travel by biking, running and/or kayaking.

The course is designed to allow racers to either use a mountain bike or a road bike, but not both (no swapping bikes mid-race!)  A significant portion of the course will be on pavement, allowing road bike participants to travel quickly, however, there will also be portions accessible only on foot or on a mountain bike; those with road bikes will need to run or hike these areas. The course is design such that someone equally skilled in running, mountain biking and road biking should obtain the same number of points regardless of manner of travel.

Street and trail maps (simple and easy to read) will be provided and participants will be able to choose their route of travel (subject to certain "off limit" areas). However, no special navigation skills will be required.
